2014 Jeep Cherokee Diesel is making a European debut at this year’s Geneva International Motor Show on 4th of March. The new Cherokee is equipped with the new 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine, coupled with the new nine-speed automatic transmission.
The turbo diesel is available in two versions – 170 hp (125 kW) and 140 hp (103 kW) outputs, both generating 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. The first version of the engine is mated to the nine-speed automatic gearbox, while the second one is matched to a six-speed manual transmission. Both engines incorporate ‘Stop/Start’ technology that enhances the fuel economy and minimizes the CO2 emissions.
In the European line-up is also included the 3.2-liter V-6 Pentastar petrol engine paired to the new nine-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain delivers 272 horsepower (200 kW) and 315 Nm (232 lb-ft) of torque.
The model will be offered in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. Three innovative four wheel drive systems are also available: the Jeep Active Drive I, Jeep Active Drive II and Jeep Active Drive Lock.
Inside, the Jeep Cherokee offers front seats with heating, ventilation and memory adjustable mechanisms; TFT 7-inch full-color reconfigurable instrument cluster; advanced touchscreen multimedia command center; leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel with remote audio, voice and speed controls.
The standard safety equipment here includes seven airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with ERM (rollover mitigation) and anti-lock brake system (ABS) with both on-road and off-road calibration. As an option, Jeep offers the innovative Forward Collision Warning-Plus, ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control-Plus, Lane Departure Warning-Plus, Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection.
2014 Jeep Cherokee will be available in dealerships during the second quarter of 2014 in three trim levels – Longitude, Limited and Trailhawk.
