Mecum Auctions will debut its first Austin, Texas, collector car auction at the Austin Convention Center Dec. 12-13 when an estimated 600 collector cars will cross the auction block. The consignment list of cars includes an excellent selection of American muscle cars, classics, hot rods, Resto Mods and more.
The auction is open to buyers, sellers and spectators with general admission tickets available at the gate for $20 per person, per day; children 12 and younger receive complimentary admission. Bidder registration is $100 and includes admission for two for both auction days. Doors open each day at 8 a.m. with the auction beginning at 10 a.m. Portions of the Mecum Austin Auction will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network with a live stream of the entire auction presented at Mecum.com.
Among the main attraction consignments is a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible (Lot S105) that was originally owned by Mercury Astronaut Gus Grissom, a 1967 Ford Mustang (Lot S117) that is one of three “Eleanor” versions used in the 2000 remake “Gone in 60 Seconds,” as well as a 2,000-mile Bloomington Gold Certified 1969 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Coupe (Lot S130). Two outstanding private collections are also set to be offered throughout the two-day auction with the Kisber Vintage Truck Collection crossing the auction block on Saturday and the Butch Cooley Collection of 25 classic Chevys and more to be offered on both Friday and Saturday.
