How Chrysler Corporation Has Helped to Shape The Industry
We were looking at a list of automobile manufacturers that existed in the early 1900s and there were just too many to count. We stopped at fifteen hundred but the list kept going and we knew when to get out of a sticky situation. Obviously, most of those carmakers got out of the business for one reason or another but the few that stayed, stuck around for the long run and succeeded beyond their founders’ wildest dreams. Chrysler for instance, was started by Walter Chrysler who took over Maxwell motors in 1925 and renamed the company Chrysler Corporation. He retooled everything and decided early on to only make the highest quality cars and that’s exactly what he did. The Chrysler name has since been synonymous with the highest quality luxury automobiles in the world.
The history of Chrysler Corporation may give us a hint as to what happened to some of the hundreds of automobile brands that either changed their names or were taken over by other companies. After Walter Chrysler started his corporation he bought up other car brands like Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto and several others.

Those models were built under the Chrysler banner and they had all the innovations that Mr. Chrysler brought to the automotive industry but any cars branded specifically with the name and logo Chrysler were sold as the company’s luxury and high-end niche.
In the 1980s Chrysler acquired a major ownership role in American Motors, which owned Jeep. Chrysler eventually bought the whole company and Jeep became part of the family and one of its most popular sellers. In 1998 Chrysler merged with the German car giant Daimler-Benz, creating the Daimler Benz Company. In 2011, after some financial re-settling, Fiat, another automotive mammoth, bought a large amount of Chrysler shares with the rest being sold to Fiat in 2014. The current name of the company is Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
Things change in the automobile business but even though Chrysler has gone through some interesting twists, the company still makes one of the best cars on the market today. It also makes sure to maintain the highest quality when building Chrysler automobiles and they never forget that Chrysler means luxury.
