Mclaren 720S adds new trophies to the wall of fame. At a prestigious event at the Performance Car of the Year, by Automotive Video Association, the team was awarded with the crown of MOTOR TREND’s 8th annual World’s Greatest Drag Race for beating fierce lineup of competitors.
As you might know, World’s Greatest Drag Race is a 12-way event in which contestants are pulled from MOTOR TREND’s Best Driver’s Car Annual Competition. And as you might have expected, McLaren 720S won WGRD with elapsed time of 10.1 seconds at 141.5mhp over a quarter-mile. The second half of the race was also conducted specifically for MOTOR TREND subscribers in which McLaren team also dominated.
The Automotive Video Association, one of the largest media organizations with hundreds of millions of unique views per year has named McLaren 720S its Performance Car of the Year – as it seems there was no other competitor in the segment that could beat the refinement and dedication of the whole McLaren team.
The vehicle itself, 720S debuted at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show and offers wide range of dynamic capabilities and next-gen of engineering solutions. The machine is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 unit that generates a total of 710hp and 568lb-ft of torque and can sprint from 0 to 60mph in mere 2.8 seconds and from 0 to 128 in 7.8 seconds.
